“Romance Was Never More Dangerous!”

A train derails outside Chicago, and two reporters from rival papers both go after the story: Peter Brackett (Nick Nolte), a veteran columnist, and Sabrina Peterson (Julia Roberts), a young reporter. Neither wants to share a byline, but a conspiracy behind the wreck pulls them into working the case together. Charles Shyer keeps them trading barbs and borrowed leads, a rivalry that starts to feel like a romance.
