At 39, James Aaron (Jeff Garlin) is living with his mother in Chicago, a Second City performer who eats too much and weighs too much. In one stretch his girlfriend leaves, his agent drops him, and he turns down TV roles that only make him sad. Garlin, who also directs, puts James up for a remake of "Marty," the one part he wants, and no one will even give him an audition.
