“The murder trial that shook the world!”

Barbara Graham (Susan Hayward) is a habitual offender who wants out of the life, one more attempt to go straight after years of arrests. Instead she is named in a murder, and Robert Wise follows her from the courtroom to death row, with the journalist Ed Montgomery (Simon Oakland) writing about her case in the papers. A conviction has already put her life on the line, and the film keeps asking how much time she has left.
