In 1997 Dublin, Git Hynes (Peter McDonald) comes out of prison and steps in to stop loan sharks beating a former best friend, who is now living with Git's girlfriend. That puts him in debt to the mob boss Tom French (Tony Doyle), who sends him and Bunny Kelly (Brendan Gleeson) to Cork to find Frank Grogan (Peter Caffrey). Paddy Breathnach sends the two men across Ireland, and what they carry with them is loyalty, owed to people who may not have earned it.
