I Wish

“They wished for a miracle.”

When Japan's new bullet train line opens in Kyushu, twelve-year-old Koichi (Koki Maeda) lives with his mother's family in Kagoshima while his younger brother Ryunosuke (Oshirō Maeda) stays with their father in Fukuoka. A rumor reaches both boys that a wish will come true where two trains pass at top speed. Kore-eda lets the real brothers talk the way kids talk, overlapping and offhand, and mostly keeps the camera at their height.
