Il Buco

In August 1961, a group of speleologists from Italy's prosperous North climb onto a Calabrian plateau where little seems to have changed in years. They have come to explore the Bifurto Abyss, a cave that drops almost 700 metres, while an old shepherd (Nicola Lanza) watches them from the grass. Michelangelo Frammartino's story sets the men's rope and lamps against the shepherd's cattle, and everything the explorers risk lies down in the dark.
