Il Sorpasso

It is a summer in Rome, the streets emptied out for the holidays, when Roberto Mariani (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a shy law student, is hailed from a passing car by Bruno Cortona (Vittorio Gassman). Bruno is forty, loud and restless, and he talks Roberto into a drive through the Roman and Tuscan countryside. Dino Risi lets one afternoon turn into days, while Roberto, who came for a quiet few hours, finds himself giving up his plans to keep up with Bruno.
