“Life goes on. Go with it.”

Carol Petersen (Blythe Danner) has lived in the same orderly routine for twenty years, and a sudden loss breaks it open. Brett Haley follows her into a dating world she never expected to enter, with Lloyd (Martin Starr) and a second unexpected romance both pulling her in. Her friends, among them Georgina (June Squibb) and Sally (Rhea Perlman), keep telling her that growing old is not the same as being finished.
