Illustrious Corpses
Inspector Amerigo Rogas (Lino Ventura) wants only to find whoever is killing the judges, and he is handed the case with a Chief of Police (Tino Carraro) watching over it. Francesco Rosi, working from Leonardo Sciascia's 1971 novel Equal Danger, has Rogas follow the murders one by one through the procedure of an ordinary investigation. Each step takes him closer to the men who sit on the Supreme Court, and the inquiry itself becomes the thing that puts him in danger.
