The 1960s, and a folk singer from the Midwest turns up in New York to make his name. Todd Haynes tells his story through six actors, among them Jude (Cate Blanchett), Woody (Marcus Carl Franklin) and Billy (Richard Gere), each one a different Bob Dylan at a different stage of his life. None of them is the whole man, and the film never claims otherwise.
