Immortal Beloved

Anton Schindler (Jeroen Krabbé) was Beethoven's secretary, and after the composer dies in 1827 he finds three letters addressed to an "immortal beloved" who is never named. Bernard Rose sends him from one woman to the next, each of whom knew Ludwig (Gary Oldman) at a different point in his life. Every memory shows how deafness, ambition and the need to be loved pulled against each other in one man.
