On the first morning of the winter sales, Sheila (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), a lonely bank clerk, joins the crowd outside a department store and walks out with a red dress. Peter Strickland follows that dress from one owner to the next, through bedrooms, laundrettes and workplaces. Between Sheila and the dress there is a bond she can't explain and can't break.
