In the Heights

“The time has come.”

Washington Heights, in the predominantly Dominican neighborhood at the top of Manhattan, is where Usnavi (Anthony Ramos) runs a bodega and has to decide whether to close it and retire to the Dominican Republic. Jon M. Chu fills the block with song and dance, following residents like Abuela Claudia (Olga Merediz) as they chase their sueñitos for a better life. Usnavi keeps looking across the counter at Vanessa (Melissa Barrera), who wants out of the neighborhood.
