Ajla (Zana Marjanović) is a Bosnian woman who meets Danijel (Goran Kostić) before the war, when a romance between them is only beginning. Now he is a soldier fighting for the Serbs, and she is a captive in the camp he oversees, with his father Nebojša (Rade Šerbedžija) a commander in the same army. Angelina Jolie, directing for the first time, sets the pair against the Bosnian War, where each day in the camp puts Ajla's life at risk.
