Hong Kong, 1962. Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung Man-yuk) and Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) move into neighboring apartments on the same day, and soon work out that their spouses are having an affair with each other. Wong Kar-wai follows the two as they start meeting to talk it over, drawn closer by a hurt only they share. Every meeting risks becoming the thing they resent in their husband and wife.
