In the Name of the Father

(1993)Directed by Jim Sheridan133 min · RDrama
“In the name of truth... In the name of justice... In the name of love.”

Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day-Lewis) is a small-time thief in Belfast, more trouble to his father than to anyone else, until he is arrested in London for an IRA bombing he had nothing to do with. He, his friends and his father Giuseppe (Pete Postlethwaite) are convicted of the 1974 Guildford pub attacks and sent away for fifteen years. Jim Sheridan keeps most of the film inside the prison, where father and son share a cell and little else at first.
