In the Name of the Land

Pierre Jarjeau (Guillaume Canet) comes home from Wyoming at 25 to take over his father's farm, and he marries Claire (Veerle Baetens) soon after. Édouard Bergeon follows the next twenty years as the farm grows, the family grows with it, and the debts pile up behind the good seasons. Claire stays at his side while Pierre works himself to exhaustion, and the love between them has to hold up against what the land is asking of him.
