“THE FLEET'S ALL IN...Since Those Riotous "Buck Privates" Abbott and Costello Joined Up!”

Russ Raymond is a popular crooner who walks away from his career at its peak and enlists in the Navy under the name Tommy Halstead (Dick Powell). Aboard the Alabama he falls in with Smokey Adams (Bud Abbott) and Pomeroy Watson (Lou Costello), who agree to help him stay hidden. Arthur Lubin sets them against Dorothy Roberts (Claire Dodd), a reporter who follows the ship hoping to photograph him as a sailor.
