In the Valley of Elah

“Sometimes finding the truth is easier than facing it.”

Hank Deerfield (Tommy Lee Jones), a career military man, gets word that his son has gone missing after returning from a tour in Iraq, and he drives out to the base to find him. Detective Emily Sanders (Charlize Theron) takes the case, and Hank joins her search, with Joan (Susan Sarandon) waiting at home. Paul Haggis sets the stakes at one family's answer: a father who has spent his life trusting the army has to learn what happened to his boy.
