In the White City

Paul (Bruno Ganz) is a Swiss mechanic who works in the noisy bowels of a merchant ship, and he has had enough of the sea. When the ship docks in Lisbon, he steps off and does not go back. Alain Tanner follows him through the city's streets and rented rooms, Paul alone with Rosa (Teresa Madruga) and a camera, and the white city around him.
