“2 letters. One for the brother. One for the father.”

In Montreal, a notary reads out the will of Nawal (Lubna Azabal) to her adult twins, who find she has left them two sealed letters: one for a father they believed dead, one for a brother they never knew existed. Denis Villeneuve, adapting Wajdi Mouawad's play, sends them to the Middle East to find both men. Jeanne (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin) goes first, and Simon (Maxim Gaudette) follows reluctantly, each carrying a mother they are only starting to know.
