Independence Day

(1996)Directed by Roland Emmerich145 min · PG-13Action, Adventure, Science Fiction
“The question of whether or not we are alone in the universe has been answered.”

It is the Fourth of July weekend, and strange signals are surfacing around the globe as vast objects settle into the sky above the world's major cities. Roland Emmerich follows a scattered group: President Thomas J. Whitmore (Bill Pullman), cable technician David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum), and Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith), who all end up converging on the Nevada desert. Hiller is a Marine pilot who wants to fight, and he has no idea yet what that will cost him.
