Inherit the Wind

(1960)Directed by Stanley Kramer128 minDrama
“It’s all about the fabulous “Monkey Trial” that rocked America!”

A schoolteacher, Bertram T. Cates (Dick York), is arrested for teaching Darwin to his students, and the case draws newspapermen and a national audience to town. Reporter E.K. Hornbeck (Gene Kelly) brings in the atheist lawyer Henry Drummond (Spencer Tracy) to defend him against Matthew Harrison Brady (Fredric March), a famous evangelist. Stanley Kramer sets the two old adversaries across the courtroom, and the rivalry between them carries real friendship.
