Behind the walls of a secluded boarding school in the woods, the girls of the third dormitory spend their year in white uniforms and colored hair ribbons. New students arrive in coffins, and Iris is the latest. Lucile Hadžihalilović, adapting Frank Wedekind's novella, follows Iris and the older girl Bianca as the teachers, Mademoiselle Eva (Marion Cotillard) among them, prepare the students for the night lessons the girls cannot name.
