Innocent Voices

Chava (Carlos Padilla) is eleven, living in 1980s El Salvador, and what he wants is an ordinary childhood in the middle of a civil war. Luis Mandoki, adapting the childhood of writer Óscar Torres, follows him through a country where the army takes boys his age to fight. The film shows how a child's small, everyday life gets crowded out by a war he never chose.
