Joy (Amy Poehler) runs Riley's mind like a gleaming control room, filtering every moment into happiness. When Riley's family moves across the country, Sadness (Phyllis Smith) starts touching memories and making them blue, and Joy panics, certain she alone can keep the girl okay. Pete Docter builds the film inside Riley's head, where the five emotions learn that some of the most important moments in life need sadness to mean anything at all.
