“It will take what you love most.”

A spirit from the world beyond followed the Lambert family home, and Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne) cannot explain why it keeps finding them. Their search leads back to a childhood secret of Josh's, which his mother Lorraine (Barbara Hershey) has kept buried for decades. James Wan keeps the family close and the lights low, so that even a quiet room feels like it is holding its breath.
