Invisible Life

“A tropical melodrama”

Eurídice Gusmão (Carol Duarte) is a young pianist in 1950 Rio de Janeiro who wants to play professionally, and her older sister Guida (Julia Stockler) is the one who tells her to go for it. At home, Guida tells her sister every detail of her romantic adventures, while their conservative parents watch over both. Karim Aïnouz shoots the sisters in the warm, crowded rooms of the family apartment, and lets the film's weight settle slowly.
