“Three Men and a Girl... Bound by Invisible Ties - Branded by Invisible Stripes”

Cliff Taylor (George Raft) walks out of prison with a record that follows him into every room, and no employer will look past it. Lloyd Bacon sets the film in a working-class neighborhood where his younger brother Tim (William Holden) and his mother (Flora Robson) want him home, while Chuck Martin (Humphrey Bogart) keeps coming around. Cliff wants an honest job and a girl like Peggy (Jane Bryan) to count on, and each door he tries closes on him.
