“He Kills By Invitation”

Matt Weaver (George Segal), a Confederate veteran, rides back into his New Mexico town after the war and finds his fiancée married to a Union soldier and his land sold off by the local banker. The banker, Doc Barker (Alfred Ryder), answers by hiring a gunman, Jules Gaspard d'Estaing (Yul Brynner), a Creole outsider with a past of his own. Richard Wilson sets the whole thing in the open sun, and the one thing on the line is whether Matt Weaver lives out the week.
