Invitation to the Dance

Three stories unfold without a word of spoken dialogue, each told entirely through dance, and Gene Kelly stars in all of them. In one, he plays Pierrot, a clown in love with a woman (Claire Sombert) who dances beside him; in another, he is Sinbad, and Igor Youskevitch, Tamara Toumanova and Diana Adams appear among the cast. Kelly directed it alone, the first film he made without Stanley Donen.
