Iracema

“A raw showing of the Transamazonic Road”

Iracema (Edna de Cássia) leaves the countryside for Belém during the Círio de Nazaré celebrations, ends up working as a prostitute, and climbs into the cab of a timber trucker, Tião (Paulo César Peréio), to get south. Jorge Bodanzky and Orlando Senna follow the pair down the Trans-Amazon road, past forest fires and slave labor. Every kilometer takes her further from home, with no money and nobody waiting on the other end.
