Irena's Vow

“Change the world with your courage.”

When nineteen-year-old Irena Gut (Sophie Nélisse) learns the Jewish ghetto in Poland is about to be liquidated, she is already working as housekeeper to a Nazi major, Rugmer (Dougray Scott). Louise Archambault keeps the camera close as Irena moves twelve Jewish workers into his basement while the house goes on running above them. It is a film about how little it takes to start, and how much one person can be asked to carry once she does.
