Ismael's Ghosts

“The past never dies.”

Ismaël Vuillard (Mathieu Amalric) is a filmmaker who drinks too much and is about to start shooting his next picture. He has been seeing Sylvia (Charlotte Gainsbourg), an astronomer, when his wife Carlotta (Marion Cotillard), missing for twenty years and presumed dead, walks back into his life. Arnaud Desplechin leaves Ismaël alone with the shoot, the two women and the drink.
