It Happened Tomorrow

(1944)Directed by René Clair85 minFantasy, Comedy, Romance
“Funniest thing on the screen today”

Larry Stevens (Dick Powell), a newspaper man at the turn of the century, is handed tomorrow's edition by an old man named Pop Benson (John Philliber), and he starts working from its headlines. It also puts him in the path of Sylvia Smith-Stevens (Linda Darnell), whose act with Uncle Oscar (Jack Oakie) is a fake mind-reading show. René Clair lets the two of them circle each other across the stage, each holding a secret the other can't be told.
