It Was Just an Accident

“A searing moral thriller about the uncertainty of truth and the heavy choice between revenge and mercy.”

Vahid (Vahid Mobasseri), a mechanic, hears a man's uneven footsteps and is sure he knows them from his time in an Iranian prison. He takes the man, Eghbal (Ebrahim Azizi), and gathers other former prisoners to learn whether they have the right one. Jafar Panahi, filming without official permission, keeps these people bound to each other by what they have all survived and by the question of what they owe the man they have taken.
