On the last night of the war, three soldiers swear to meet at the same bar in ten years. Ted Riley (Gene Kelly), Doug Hallerton (Dan Dailey) and Angie Valentine (Michael Kidd) all turn up, and none of them has much to say to the others. Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly stage the evening around the three of them at one table, each holding a drink and a different life.
