King Richard the Lionheart has not come home, and in his absence Prince John holds the throne. Wilfred of Ivanhoe (Robert Taylor) returns to England in secret, joins forces with Robin of Locksley, and sets about finding the money to bring the king back. Richard Thorpe shoots it in Technicolor, with jousts and castle sieges kept loud and moving.
