Izo

“The world never can be changed.”

Okada Izo (Kazuya Nakayama) is a swordsman who kills for a Tosa lord and the Imperial cause, cutting down dozens of the Shogun's men before he is captured and crucified. His rage outlasts the cross and carries him out of the nineteenth century into present-day Tokyo, where he keeps killing. Takashi Miike sends him through one era after another in a loud, fevered run of violence, with no interest in explaining how any of it works.
