“He came back from the dead to possess a man's soul, make love to his woman, and get the Vengeance he craved!”

Isaac "Ike" Hendrix (Glynn Turman) is a mild-mannered law student in New Orleans who goes to a nightclub where a hypnotist's act is the main draw. Under the hypnosis, the spirit of J.D. Walker, a gangster murdered in the 1940s and restless ever since, takes hold of his body. Arthur Marks follows Ike as the voice, the walk and the grudges start coming from someone else, with Rev. Elija Bliss (Louis Gossett Jr.) in the story as well.
