Jack Powell (Robin Williams) is ten years old and wants what any ten-year-old wants, which is friends, a treehouse, and a seat in a real classroom. Because a rare condition makes him age four times faster than normal, he has the face and body of a forty-year-old man, and he walks into public school for the first time after years of homeschooling with his mother Karen (Diane Lane). Francis Ford Coppola directs this as a family comedy with a bittersweet streak.
