“Elvis in Action as Never Before!”

Vince Everett (Elvis Presley) goes to prison for manslaughter and picks up a guitar from his cellmate Hunk Houghton (Mickey Shaughnessy), who sees what the kid can do. Richard Thorpe follows him out the gate and into a recording studio, with Peggy Van Alden (Judy Tyler) in his corner as the songs start to catch. Leiber and Stoller wrote the title number, and what the film keeps coming back to is how quickly a voice can make a man somebody.
