Detective Erlendur (Ingvar E. Sigurðsson) wants a quick answer when an old man turns up dead in his Reykjavik flat, but the case keeps giving him more questions. He and his squad, Sigurður Óli (Björn Hlynur Haraldsson) and Elínborg (Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir), follow it into secrets that were buried long ago. Baltasar Kormákur keeps Erlendur at the center, a tired man in a heavy coat, still turning over the same thing.
