Jimmy the Gent

(1934)Directed by Michael Curtiz67 minDrama, Comedy, Romance, Crime
“He's the BIGGEST CHISELER since MICHAELANGELO! Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves Were PIKERS compared to this RED-HAIRED SON-OF-A-GUN!”

Jimmy Corrigan (James Cagney) runs a racket that tracks down heirs to unclaimed fortunes, and when his old sweetheart Joan Martin (Bette Davis) goes to work for his respectable rival, he starts talking about ethics and sipping tea with his pinky out. Michael Curtiz keeps the film quick and loud. Jimmy is a rough, fast-talking man who has decided to pass for a gentleman, and he wants Joan back badly enough to try.
