Joan of Arc

(1948)Directed by Victor Fleming145 minDrama, History
“Greatest of all spectacles!”

A farm girl in a France ruined by the Hundred Years War says she hears voices from Heaven telling her to lead an army to Orleans and put the weak Dauphin on the throne. Joan (Ingrid Bergman) gathers followers on faith alone, and Victor Fleming, in his last film, builds the story around her conviction. She does not waver once, and the war, the court and the church all have to answer to her.
