Joan the Maid II: The Prisons

Jeanne d'Arc (Sandrine Bonnaie) has lifted the siege of Orléans and watched Charles (André Marcon) crowned King of France, but a wound taken in the attempt on Paris leaves her weaker at court. Captured by the enemy, she is put on trial, with her life and the sanctity of her body both at stake. Jacques Rivette films the second half of her story as a French chronicle, kept plain and close to the record.
