“Cecil B. DeMille's Cinema Masterpiece”

Joan of Arc (Geraldine Farrar) is a peasant girl who hears a call to lead France's armies and is brought before the weak Charles VII (Raymond Hatton). A British officer, Eric Trent (Wallace Reid), is haunted the night before a risky mission by a vision of her, and the film follows her story back through him. Cecil B. DeMille made it his first historical drama, but it is Farrar's Joan who carries the picture, a country girl who will not turn back.
