Johnny Walker (Anthony Michael Hall) is small and skinny, and every college scout in the country wants him anyway. He has to pick between the big offers and the local state college, where his girlfriend Georgia (Uma Thurman) is headed and his football career would end. Bud S. Smith fills the recruiting season with Leo Wiggins (Robert Downey Jr.), Wayne Hisler (Paul Gleason), and a loud, grabby crowd of people who all want a piece of him.
