Johnny Mnemonic (Keanu Reeves) is a data trafficker in 2021 who carries information too sensitive for any network inside an implant in his own head. His latest delivery pushes that storage past its limit, and the package holds data worth far more than he was told. Robert Longo sends him running from assassins, among them Takahashi (Takeshi Kitano) and a Street Preacher (Dolph Lundgren), with Jane (Dina Meyer) beside him and the implant counting down.
