“Your shadow is over the line...”

Two North Korean soldiers are shot dead inside the border area between North and South Korea, and a neutral commission is sent in to find out who fired. Maj. Sophie E. Jean (Lee Young-ae) takes the case and gets two accounts that do not agree, one from each side of the line. Park Chan-wook follows her from interview to interview as she tries to piece together what Sgt. Lee Soo-hyuk (Lee Byung-hun) and Sgt. Oh Kyeong-pil (Song Kang-ho) are holding back.
